Every August means PMC for the BikeMass351 crew! A chance to raise money for the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber.
Elmo, Mike and Ian have a combined 37 years of PMC riding, and were happily back on the road this year.
We were joined this year by friend Joel, doing his 2nd PMC ride. Saturday's ride out of Wellesley was a rolling party that brought an unexpected array of chance encounters: my boss, my mayor, my "pedal partner", a friend of a friend I had been meaning to ride with. The crowds were great as always, personal favorite was the group handing out cans of Bud Light "It's 95% water! Great for saddle sores!" -- dozens of blue cans scattered over the next mile.
While Elmo continued with Joel on the conventional route to Bourne, Ian and Mike decided to "Choose Your Own Adventure", a 133 mile round trip on our tandem bike back home to Newton, using a PMC's Day 2 route from Bourne to Wellesley. Ian got home and jumped on the elliptical (ah, to be 21), Mike decided to test the Bud Light people's theory on how beer helped saddle sores :)
Sunday brought a 58 mile loop to Gillette Stadium, where the Patriots put on a great show as always. We enjoyed hearing stories from Lori, who lost her father to cancer, and Ann, who fell at a stop sign "not used to these clip shoes", but was focused on completing her ride to help defeat cancer. Inspiring.
